English Curriculum Design

This course presents a broad framework of elements that make up the design of a curriculum and different approaches and principles that have been developed in the area of ​​English language learning.

On the other hand, a general overview of the levels of specification of the national curriculum will be given, going into depth on the perspectives of English language learning. In addition, the main types of curriculum design for the development of linguistic skills will be studied, as well as the paradigm shift that the English curriculum has gone through (from emphasizing structural aspects of the language to having as its center the communicative and intercultural use of the language).

This course is both practical and theoretical and introduces the basic description and analysis of phonology and phonetics. Phonology deals with the physical characteristics of speech sounds, the patterns of speech sounds and their abstract representation. On the other hand, phonetics studies the sounds speech from a physical perspective; it describes articulatory features. With this course, students will be able to use the necessary tools for correct speech production. Students will also comprehend the mechanisms involved in the production of sounds, which includes phonetical transcription.
